BAF30
Basalt Fiber 30 mm (BAF30)
Basalt Fiber 30 mm (BAF30) — mineral reinforcing fiber for concrete structures in wet and aggressive environments, with delivery across Estonia. Does not rust or corrode unlike steel mesh and steel fiber — retains strength under constant contact with moisture and chemically aggressive environments. Tensile strength of 2600 MPa and elastic modulus of 85 GPa provide high efficiency as dispersed reinforcement. Available made-to-order. Buy with delivery across Estonia via Omniva parcel lockers.
Where is basalt fiber 30 mm used
Basalt fiber is used where durability in aggressive or wet environments matters and standard steel reinforcement corrodes quickly. In marine and coastal structures, piers and breakwaters, it provides reinforcement without the risk of rusting from salt water. In hydraulic engineering and water treatment structures, it retains strength under constant contact with moisture. In chemically aggressive environments — industrial sites with acidic or alkaline discharge — it does not corrode, unlike steel. Alkali resistance ≥80% makes it suitable for direct contact with the cement matrix throughout the structure's service life. Used as dispersed reinforcement for crack control and improved durability — does not replace load-bearing steel reinforcement specified by project design. For structural reinforcement without corrosion-resistance requirements, consider the more budget-friendly <ppmaf50>PP Macrofiber 50mm (PPMAF50)</ppmaf50>.
How much basalt fiber is needed per m³ of concrete
Indicative dosage per manufacturer data — 3 kg per 1 m³ of cement concrete. Calculation example: pier deck 50 m², thickness 20 cm = 10 m³ concrete → at 3 kg/m³ dosage, 30 kg is needed. Exact dosage for load-bearing and specialized structures is determined by project engineering calculation.
